Originating in Argentina, this herbal tea is a species of Holly. It is traditionally drunk through a metal straw known as a “bombilla” which is attached to a clay, wooden or calabash gourd. It is common to see Argentinians walking around with water flasks and packs containing all the paraphernalia in order to make Yerba Mate throughout the day.
Directions: 1 level teaspoon per 200ml water. Steep for 5 to 10 minutes. For a traditional brew use 10 teaspoons and steep in boiling water for 5 minutes with up to 5 infusions.
