It was originally called Pearl Tea by the Chinese until early European traders likened it to gunpowder pellets. The tea leaves are rolled into pellets to protect and preserve the tea, allowing it to maintain its freshness, aroma and flavour. These beautiful pearls unfold slowly when steeped in hot water, revealing a full leaf that releases a flavour gently and without bitterness.

Slightly sweet and gentle with a woody-fresh taste. It is clean, crisp and has less potential to be bitter than other green teas.
